The state government has decided to resume Spinal surgery and contemplated opening a 100-bed dialysis unit in IGM Hospital.
For a long time there was no meeting under the chairmanship of the Chairman of the Rogi Kalyan Samiti in IGM Hospital. A meeting was organized under the chairmanship of Dr. Dilip Das, Chairman of Rogi Kalyan Samiti at the hospital on Thursday. Doctors and health workers including MS of the hospital were present in the meeting.
Dr. Dilip Das, chairman of the Samiti, said that many developmental works are being done continuously for the benefit of the patients who come to the hospital.
“Spinal surgery will begin for patients in the coming days. We have discussed how health workers can be given the responsibility of providing spine surgery services to patients with beds within the next one month. 24-hour surgery is also arranged”, said Das.
However, he expressed concern that there is a shortage of beds in the hospital. The hospital has a total of seven lifts. Complaints arise because the elevators are broken most of the time.
The chief engineer has been tasked to see how to repair the three lifts that are currently out of order as soon as possible. Besides, if the lift is broken, a plan has been taken to arrange lamps as an alternative system for movement.
He also said that the number of dialysis patients in the hospital is increasing day by day. So how to increase the number of beds has been discussed. He also said that another proposal has come from the Government of India to open a 100-bed dialysis unit in IGM Hospital in the coming days. The work of fixing the place for this has started. There are plans to demolish the old brick building and construct a 100-bed dialysis unit there. Besides, the authorities are taking initiative to run the canteen in IGM Hospital with SHG women.
