In a significant development, the Tripura Police of Belonia police station has apprehended three individuals allegedly involved in ganja trafficking after facing criticism for delays in their arrest.
Bikas Sarkar, Prashant Baidya, and Sujit Baidya were taken into custody late Tuesday night following a raid in the Piparia Khala area of Rajnagar block. The arrests come after three days of purported excuses from police chiefs, prompting public pressure for action. However, questions have arisen regarding the involvement of Bikash Sarkar, who serves as an SPO (Special Police Officer) in the PR Bari police station.
Despite sharing the same last name as one of the arrested individuals, Bikash Sarkar has vehemently denied any connection to the ganja smuggling case. Adding to the complexity, Bhola Nath Shil, serving as an SI (Sub-Inspector) in the Sabroom Police Station, has also come under scrutiny amidst the unfolding investigation.
The community awaits further updates from authorities as the case unfolds, raising concerns about the efficacy of law enforcement in tackling drug-related crimes in the region. Stay tuned for more developments on this story.
