After the 10,323 sacked ad-hoc pay teachers, the teachers of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA), Friday agitated against the government and reiterated their demand for regularisation of their jobs.
A large number of SSA teachers under the banner of Samagra Shiksha Employees Association on Friday knocked the door of the State Project Director of Samagrah Shiksha Tripura here at Agartala Shiksha Bhawan and pressed for their 5-point charter of demands.
The demand mainly included regularisation of the jobs of all teaching and non-teaching staff of the SSA, enhancement of remuneration of all teaching and non-teaching staff, grant of 12% DA as announced by the state government for the government employees.
The chairman of the association – Bastab Debbarma said that the government had failed to meet their promises of regularisation of all contractual employees made before the 2018 assembly election. “Despite the High Court of Tripura passed judgement in favour of the SSA teachers earlier in the year 2021 regarding our regularisation, the state government did nothing so far,” he told reporters.
A case was filed in the Tripura High Court on behalf of the teachers on the issue of regularisation of SSA teachers. In the wake of this case, the High Court had directed the Tripura government to regularize all education teachers by August 23, 2021.
He said, “We are not working for any political party but we are determined to protest for our rights”. He however threatened to launch a stir and gherao minister’s residence in near future if their demands are not fulfilled.
