Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha on Friday said that the state administration is working tirelessly to assist flood-affected individuals and praised the contributions of people from all walks of life during this crisis.
“The manner in which people from various sectors, including social organizations, businessmen, teachers, and employees, have come forward to support the flood-affected citizens of the state is truly remarkable. People always remember those who extend a helping hand in times of need. The state administration is working around the clock to aid those affected by the floods,” said Dr. Saha at a relief distribution event at Bharat Mata Community Hall of East Kalabaria Gram Panchayat in Belonia.
The relief distribution and a mega health camp were organized by the Indian Red Cross Society. Relief materials were distributed to 200 flood-affected families.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Saha also mentioned that repair work on roads, drinking water sources, electricity services, and homes damaged by the flood is ongoing.
“In these challenging times, not only the people of the state but also the governments of various other states have stepped forward to offer flood relief assistance. Financial aid of Rs 4 lakh has been provided to the families of those who lost their lives in the flood, while Rs 50,000 has been given to the injured. The nature of assistance doesn't matter; the willingness to help must be respected. Even children have donated their saved tiffin money to the Chief Minister's Relief Fund,” he added. Afterward, the Chief Minister visited the health camp.
The event was attended by newly elected Sabhadhipati of South Tripura Zilla Parishad Dipak Dutta, Chairman of Bharat Chandranagar Panchayat Samiti Putul Pal Biswas, State Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society Prasenjit Biswas, State Coordinator of the Indian Red Cross Society Rupjit Das, Secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society South Tripura District Laxman Malakar, and South Tripura District Magistrate Smita Mol.
