Tripura has achieved tremendous success in Under-19 National School Games by winning one gold, four silver, and two bronze medals.
Addressing a press conference at Civil Secretariat in Agartala, Sports, and Youth Affairs Minister Tinku Roy said that state school teams participated in 15 events in Under-19 National School Games that were held in Delhi, Bhopal and in Gwalior where the players won one gold, four silver and two bronze medals in Judo and in Yoga.
“The state team won 1 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal in Judo at the Games. At the same time, won more than 2 Silver, and 2 Bronze Medals in Yoga. Moreover, the state team won the second runner-up title in yoga also. I hope that the state team would do better in the future in other categories”, said Roy.
In a press conference, the sports minister said that the 2022 Under-19 National School Games were held at three places in the country from June 6 to June 13.
“After 2018 the scenario of sports in the state has changed and sports infrastructures were also developed. But due to Covid we couldn’t give that much focus on sports. We are taking various initiatives for our athletes and sports infrastructure. We not legging behind from any other states in terms of sports infrastructure”, said the minister.
In the press conference, the sports minister also said that International Yoga Day will be observed on June 21. On that day, the State-level main program will be organized at the International Fair Grounds located at Hapania on the outskirt of Agartala city.
