Statue of Dr B R Ambedkar unveiled in Tripura Assembly premise to mark ‘Mahaparinirvan Din’

AGARTALA:

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday unveiled the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar in the premises of Tripura Legislative Assembly to mark ‘Mahaparinirvan Din’ on the occasion of 68th death anniversary of Ambedkar.

Addressing the function, Chief Minister Dr Saha said, “Every word of the constitution drafted by Dr B R Ambedkar is equally relevant today. Dr. BR Ambedkar's life is an institution built despite many setbacks.”

“The way he worked for the backward people of the country is still relevant today. The work he did for the backward people of the society became a social movement, which gained more momentum after Prime Minister Narendra Modi assumed his office in 2014,” he said.

He said, “PM Modi launched various projects for the socio-economic upliftment of the backward people moving in line with the ideology of Ambedkar. The Scheduled Caste Welfare Department of the State Government also deserves appreciation for the schemes it is implementing for the backward people of the State.”
