STGT aspirants gheraos CM’s resident, demand immediate recruitment

AGARTALA:

Aspirants for the Secondary Test for Graduate Teachers (STGT) staged a demonstration in front of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha's residence, demanding an immediate completion of the recruitment process.

The STGT aspirants had gathered to meet the Chief Minister, but unfortunately, they were unable to do so due to a lack of prior permission. Disappointed, they had to return without an audience with the Chief Minister.

One of the agitators, speaking to reporters, expressed their frustration over the recruitment process, which has been stalled for 10 months with no publication of results. They highlighted the fact that the STGT exam was conducted in 2022, yet the education department has not released the results. Despite repeated appeals to various ministers, including the Chief Minister, Finance Minister, Education Minister, and others, no initiative has been taken to address their demands. Numerous letters requesting appointment have gone unanswered.

Furthermore, the agitators emphasized that many schools are suffering from a shortage of teachers, but the education department has shown no initiative in addressing the issue through recruitment.

In their pursuit to meet the Chief Minister and voice their concerns, the aspirants gathered in front of his residence. However, due to a lack of prior permission, the police officials on duty prevented their entry.

The agitators expressed their disappointment, stating that they had been attempting to meet the Chief Minister for several days but had been unsuccessful. As a result, they came from across the state to assemble in front of the Chief Minister's residence.
