Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Thursday attended Bhoomi pujan ceremony here at Agartala for construction of National Law University in Tripura campus at Narshingarh and said that a strong legal system is required for a prosperous democracy.
President of India Draupadi Murmu had laid the foundation stone for the establishment of National Law University in the year 2022.
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said that law education is not only for learning law, but also it plays an important role in establishing justice, morality and also the rule of law in the society. Tripura campus of the National Law University will serve as a center for legal research and development by addressing the contemporary challenges in the field of law and governance, he said, adding that the National Law University is a historic milestone in the field of legal education in the state.
He said that the establishment of the National Law University in the state reflects the strong commitment of the state government to legal education, research and policy making.
The State Government is fully committed to provide all necessary support for the development of National Law University, Tripura, he said, adding that in this regard the State Government will continue to provide financial, administrative and policy support to the National Law University, Tripura to achieve its objectives.
Chief Justice of Tripura High Court, Justice Apresh Kumar Singh, Vice-Chancellor of National Law University Yogesh Pratap Singh and others were present in the programme.
