Support our boys to kick out illegal Bangladeshis from Tripura: Pradyot

AGARTALA:

Tripura royal scion Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma on Sunday asserted that with proper support, local youths are capable of defending their land and preventing illegal Bangladeshi migrants from entering India.

His remarks came a day after four Bangladeshi nationals were apprehended at Agartala Railway Station.

Highlighting the growing concern, Pradyot said that illegal migration into Tripura is a daily occurrence. "For every five apprehended, a thousand slip through because of the challenging terrain and porous borders," he stated.

He warned that Tripura is once again undergoing a significant demographic change. "Both Assam and Tripura, along with parts of Meghalaya, have turned into transit corridors for illegal migration into the Northeast and further into the rest of India," he said. "The indigenous tribes demanding land rights today are doing so because we understand that, sooner or later, we risk being overrun by illegal migrants."

Calling for national attention, Pradyot said, "Can we expect justice and support from the rest of India? Our boys know the land well, and if empowered, they will stand strong to protect it and stop illegal infiltrations."
