To educate citizens, electors, and voters about the electoral process, the District Election Officer of the West Tripura district on Tuesday organized a flagship programme of Election Commission of India – Systematic Voter’s Education and Electoral Participations (SVEEP)- 2024 here at Agartala.
Addressing the program, Chief Election Officer Puneet Agarwal said that the Election Commission of India has designed the SVEEP programme with the aim of increasing people’s participation in the electoral process.
“Every individual from the age of 18 years and above have the right to vote irrespective of their caste, creed, religion or economic status. Social equality is established through this electoral process,” he said.
The CEO urged the youths and new voters to come forward and exercise their democratic right as well as also raise awareness in this context and encourage others who abstained from voting.
Tripura University Vice- Chancellor Ganda Prasad Prasain, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr Vishal Kumar, SVEEP icons Padmashree Dipa Karmakar among others remained present at the program.
