A fervent display of dissatisfaction unfolded as 361 successful candidates of the 2022 Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) convened in protest in front of the Shiksha Bhawan accusing the government of undue delays in their appointments despite a severe shortage of teachers in Tripura's schools.
The protestors, predominantly TET passers voiced their frustration over the government's failure to promptly issue appointment letters. Traditionally regarded as a gateway to securing teaching positions, the recent uproar stems from alleged negligence on the part of the Tripura Board of TET (TIBT). According to the protestors TIBT swiftly issued pass certificates but faltered in following through with the crucial appointment letters.
Emphasizing the critical shortage of teachers in the state's schools the aspirants vehemently demanded their right to employment. They argued that the scarcity in essential resources hampers efforts to build a better Tripura highlighting the integral role of education in the state's development.
While the government contends that appointments are made based on departmental needs and not solely reliant on TET success, protestors countered that the current shortage necessitates their immediate recruitment to address the education crisis in the state.
The demonstrators pointed out that students have taken to blocking roads in protest of the insufficient number of teachers, citing it as evidence of the urgent need to fill vacant teaching positions. They expressed their willingness to take on the responsibility but insisted on fair remuneration for their services.
