There is no nobler deed than donating blood. Blood donation is the highest form of donation as compared to different kinds of donation of the society, enunciated Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha after inaugurating the mega blood donation camp organized today at 21 Sector Assam Rifles Unit Hospital, Agartala.
He said, no human can live without blood. About 3 to 4 humans can be benefitted through a blood donor. The blood plays a vital role in carrying vitamins, oxygen etc. to different cells of a human body. Apart from that, blood is also an important factor to curb the blood deficiency disease and during different types of surgeries. That is why adequate quantity of blood is necessary in blood banks.
The Chief Minister said, scarcity of blood was observed in 12 government and 2 private blood banks of the state during the previous Legislative Assembly elections. Post election, in order to resolve the problem of scarcity of blood in the state, the state government has called out everyone in the society including government and private organizations to conduct blood donation camps. The Chief Minister lauded Assam Rifles on conducting blood donation camp responding to the call of the state government.
The Chief Minister said, apart from providing protection to the state, the Assam Rifles also keep themselves involved in humanitarian deeds. Besides, the Assam Rifles is also working towards building drug-free Tripura responding to the call of the state government. The Chief Minister expressed his gratitude towards them and handed over certificates and gift items to the blood donors to encourage them.
Assam Rifles Brigadier Vikram Guleria said, Assam Rifles has been providing protection to the state since 1949 and has been working towards tackling different types of disasters. Today’s mega blood donation camp has been conducted responding to the Chief Minister’s call. Besides, Assam Rifles also has been working towards building drug-free Tripura along with the government. Youth Affairs & Sports Minister Tinku Roy and Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder were present there.
