Three Bangladeshi women held from Agartala railway station while boarding train for Ahmedabad

In yet another major crackdown on illegal infiltration, the police of GRP and Railway Protection Force on Sunday last detained at least 3 Bangladeshi women from Agartala Railway Station while attempting to board a train for Ahmedabad.

The officer in-charge of the GRP station at Agartala Tapas Das informed that acting on a tip off regarding movement of infiltrators by train, the GRP and the RPF conducted an operation at Agartala rail station on Sunday last and detained 3 Bangladeshi women from the station. They were supposed to board a train for Ahmedabad, he told reporters.

He also informed that initially the detained Bangladeshi women claimed to be Indian citizens, but later on being asked they failed to provide valid documents. During interrogation, they eventually confessed that they illegally entered Indian territory from Bangladesh.

A specific case has been registered against the trio under the IPC Passport Act and Foreigner’s Act, he said.
