Three Drug dealers nabbed with brown sugar in Agartala

AGARTALA:

In a significant anti-drug operation, East Agartala Police Station, in coordination with Collegetila Outpost, arrested three drug peddlers and seized brown sugar from their possession. An autorickshaw used in their smuggling activities was also confiscated.

The accused, identified as Mithun Roy, Vivek Roy and Rajib Biswas were presented in court on Thursday, according to SDPO Deb Prasad Roy.

Police sources revealed that the trio had been operating around schools and colleges in Agartala, disguising themselves as passengers in an autorickshaw to facilitate their illegal trade. Acting on a tip-off from an informant, a team led by East Agartala Police Station OC Rana Chatterjee conducted a raid in the Collegetila area, successfully apprehending the suspects.

SDPO Deb Prasad Roy confirmed the recovery of cash, mobile phones, and narcotics during the operation. “The accused were targeting educational institutions in the city to smuggle and sell drugs,” he said.

The arrested individuals, along with the seized items, are now in judicial custody, and further investigation into the case is underway.
