Three held with Yaba tablets worth Rs 5 Crore in Agartala city

Tripura Police have arrested three persons and seized yaba tablets worth over Rs 5 crore from the Maheskhala area in Agartala city in the early hours of Thursday.

Speaking on the matter, West District Superintendent of Police, Kiran Kumar, said that in the early hours of Thursday, the West Agartala Police Station received information that a person identified as Md Babul Miah (45) had stored a huge cache of contraband items.

“Based on this, we carried out a raid at his home and seized 1.06 lakh yaba tablets, with a market value of Rs 5 crore. We have arrested Babul and two more persons identified as Sanjay Miah (42) and Sipan Hossein (26). We have also seized multiple mobile phones and bikes. A special case has been registered, and we will produce him before the court,” he said.

The SP further stated that the police have conducted a special drive in Agartala city over the past week against NDPS-related activities. As a result, 10 cases have been registered, 21 individuals arrested in eight days, and 369 kg of cannabis, 2,017 bottles of cough syrup, 66 grams of heroin, and 1.06 lakh yaba tablets have been seized.
