In a significant breakthrough, the East Agartala police station successfully apprehended three notorious thieves and recovered stolen bikes following a tip-off. The arrest of the main accused, Sanjit Sarkar, resident of Melaghar, from Tulakona, led to the identification and capture of two more members of the thief gang.
The police action comes in response to a case filed on December 24 regarding the theft of a person's bike from Chittaranjan Road. Complaints of similar incidents from various locations had been pouring in for several days, prompting the police to launch a comprehensive investigation.
Under the leadership of OC Rana Chatterjee, the East Agartala police station conducted raids at various locations based on secret information gathered during the course of the investigation. The meticulous operation culminated in the successful apprehension of the main culprits involved in the bike thefts.
During the interrogation of Sanjit Sarkar, crucial information emerged, leading to the identification and subsequent arrest of two more members of the thief gang. The police also seized three stolen bikes from the trio, further dismantling the criminal activities of the gang.
OC Rana Chatterjee stated that the interrogation of the arrested individuals is expected to reveal valuable insights into the operations of the entire thief gang. The police believe that this successful operation will contribute significantly to curbing bike thefts in the region.
