The TIPRA Motha party, an alliance partner of the ruling BJP government in Tripura, demanded the state election commission to conduct the panchayat election and the pending Village Committee election simultaneously.
A 3-member delegation of the TIPRA Motha party on Thursday submitted a letter to the state election commission to press for their demand.
The TMP in its letter to the state election commission stated, “In this backdrop, we strongly demand to conduct the Village Committees Elections and three -tier Panchayat Elections-2024 simultaneously, for the best interest of the peoples of TTAADC areas including 2(Two) Seats/Constituencies of TTAADC which are lying vacant over the one and half years.”
“The Counting of votes for General Elections/Bye-Elections to TTAADC including ADC-Village Committees Elections should be counted within the Scheduled Areas (TTAADC) with free and fair elections to uphold democratic values in the State,” the letter stated.
The TMP also expressed their concern over the media report that a sizable numbers of illegal immigrants from Bangladesh have enrolled their names in the Electoral Rolls of Kamalasagar Assembly Constituency in unfair means.
The letter further stated, “It is also pertinent to mention herein that since the independence of India, there are lots of glaring instances of such illegal immigrants from Bangladesh who have enrolled their names in the Electoral Rolls and also obtained the further relevant documents in the past and till now which is lead to a serious threat of Indian's National Security. So, we demand that all the names of Bangladeshi who have enrolled their names in the Electoral Rolls should be deleted from the Electoral Rolls and all such illegal immigrants should be detected and deported accordingly.”
