Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Friday flagged off Cycle Rally and Peace Walk on "World Tourism Day" here at Agartala Ujjayanta Palace and said that the tourism industry in the state can play a key role in enhancing the economy of the state.
The state tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Director of the state tourism department Prashant Badal Negi and others were present in the event.
Addressing the event, the governor said that both the Central and the state government has taken multifaceted steps to further develop the tourism industry in Tripura. There are many tourist attractions here, which are attracting both domestic and foreign tourists. This is clearly reflected in the increasing number of tourists arriving in the state every year, he said.
The Governor said that the Mata Tripurasundari temple is being attractively decorated to encourage religious tourism in the state. Neermahal, which is full of memories of the state's royal period, has also been renovated to attract tourists, he said, adding that it is necessary to ensure proper and peaceful atmosphere for the development of tourism
Meanwhile, the state tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury said that the present government of the state is working relentlessly with the help of the central government to present Tripura to the whole world.
