Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Friday inaugurated the celebration of World Tourism Day-2024 here in a function at Agartala and said that the tourism industry plays a key role in growing countries and state’s economy.
Addressing the event here at Agartala Rabindra Bhavan on Friday, the Chief Minister said, “Due to the multi-pronged plans of the state government, number of domestic and international tourists are gradually increasing in Tripura, which itself signifies the development of the tourism sector of the state.”
“Beautification work of the Mata Tripurasundari temple in Udaipur is presently underway, while Narikel Kunja in Dumbur has already been developed to attract and facilitate tourists. The infrastructure of tourist centers of the state is being developed through various central schemes. Tourism is one of the largest sources of employment and plays a very important role in economic prosperity and poverty alleviation of society,” CM Dr Saha said.
The Chief Minister said that 41 modern log huts have been constructed and commissioned in various tourist centers of the state. Light and sound show is launched at Ujjayanta Palace, while helipad has been made at Narikel Kunja to ease the transportation for tourists.
“Through the Swadesh Darshan-1.0 project, the infrastructure development work of tourist centers like Agartala, Sepahijala, Melaghar, Udaipur, Amarpur, Mandirghat, Tirthamukh, Narikel Kunja, Dumbur, Ambassa, Neer Mahal and Baramura has been completed,” he said, adding that a MoU has been signed between Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited and National Highways Logistics Management Limited for the construction of ropeways from Udaipur Railway Station to Mata Tripurasundari temple, Maharani to Chabimura, and on ither locations.
