Tourists flock to Neer Mahal on first day of the English New Year

AGARTALA:

The iconic Neer Mahal, nestled amidst the serene waters of Rudrasagar, witnessed a massive influx of tourists on the first day of the English New Year.

A long queue at the Rajghat ticket counter, leading to the picturesque water palace, symbolized the enthusiasm and joy of locals and visitors alike in marking the start of 2025.

Authorities from the Rudrasagar Samabaya Samity, overseeing the tourism activities in the area, expressed their delight at the overwhelming response.

President Pabitra Das and Secretary Parameshwar Das shared their optimism about the growing popularity of the Neer Mahal tour, stating that the steady increase in tourist numbers is a promising sign for the region’s tourism economy.

The resurgence of interest in Neer Mahal has been partially attributed to the revival of the light and sound show, which had been dormant for a considerable period. Reintroduced in December last year during the promotional festival, the show appears to have rekindled fascination with the historical marvel.

“The light and sound show has breathed new life into Neer Mahal’s appeal,” remarked a tourist, adding that the immersive storytelling of the palace’s history under the starry skies enhances the overall experience.
