The safety of electricity workers, who often perform high-risk jobs, has been brought to the forefront with a dedicated training program organized by Tripura Power Transmission Limited (TPTL). This initiative aims to minimize risks, ensuring the well-being of workers and their families while maintaining seamless service delivery.
"Electricity workers are integral to emergency services, and their safety cannot be compromised. A single misstep can result in irreversible consequences," remarked a senior TPTL official.
The organization has emphasized the necessity of adhering to safety protocols and using protective equipment, including helmets, gloves, waist belts, discharge rods, and safety shoes. Workers are encouraged to report any equipment defects immediately to prevent accidents.
"An error in this field can be fatal, and no amount of legal measures, fines, or compensation can replace a lost life," the official stressed. Workers have been advised to seek appropriate permissions, follow established procedures, and exercise utmost caution while performing their duties.
In collaboration with Power Grid, TPTL has launched a two-day training program on December 9 and 10, 2024, focusing on safety and security for engineers and electricity workers. The event follows an inaugural session held on December 7, where a comprehensive safety manual and an informational documentary were unveiled. Spare parts and safety materials were also distributed to workers during the session.
Tripura’s Power Minister, Ratan Lal Nath, who attended the event as the chief guest, highlighted the government’s commitment to worker safety.
"The health and safety of our workers are our top priority. We are determined to ensure that every worker returns home safely to their loved ones each day," he stated.
TPTL General Manager Ranjan Debbarman also participated in the program, reiterating the organization's dedication to fostering a safe working environment.
This initiative underscores TPTL’s proactive approach to safeguarding its workforce, reinforcing the critical importance of safety in the electricity sector.
