Preparations are in full swing for the two-day long traditional Paush Sankranti fair scheduled to be inaugurated at Tirthamukh in Dumboor reservoir at Gomati District on January 14.
The event promises to be a vibrant celebration of customs and traditions, featuring religious rituals such as Tarpan, Asthi Bisarjan, Ganga Puja, and more.
A meeting held at the Tirthamukh Mela premises yesterday, presided over by Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, brought together key figures, including MLA Sanjay Manik Tripura, Tripura Tribal Area Autonomous District Council Executive Member Rajesh Tripura, Shilachari BAC Chairman Thanga Mog, Korbook BAC Vice Chairman Pranab Kumar Tripura, Gomati District Magistrate Taritkanti Chakma, Superintendent of Police Namit Pathak, Karbook SDM Partha Das, and other officials.
During the meeting, Minister Bikas Debbarma expressed the government's commitment to ensuring the success of the Poush Sankranti Mela. He announced plans for the development of permanent infrastructure, including the installation of mobile towers, to enhance the pilgrimage site's appeal to both tourists and international pilgrims.
The minister sought the cooperation of all attendees to ensure the smooth execution of the two-day program. The meeting addressed various aspects, including the construction of temporary restrooms for overnight stays, provision of drinking water and toilets, adequate lighting in the fair premises and surrounding streets, medical services, law and order, and the organization of all-night cultural programs.
As the countdown to the Paush Sankranti Fair begins, the local community eagerly anticipates the convergence of spirituality, tradition, and festivity at Tirthamukh.
