Amid rising complaints of traffic congestion, Traffic SP Manik Lal Das launched a surprise operation today in Agartala's heavily congested GB Bazar area. This intervention comes as the city grapples with an unprecedented influx of passenger and battery-operated autos that clog the streets from dawn till dusk, causing frustration among residents and frequent disruptions to traffic flow.
The situation has become critical for the area, a key route to the city hospital, where daily gridlocks pose serious challenges for ambulances and emergency services, amplifying public frustration. Responding to these concerns, SP Manik Lal Das took charge on the ground, leading a team of traffic officers to enforce regulations and alleviate congestion.
"While our department makes daily efforts to manage traffic, public awareness remains a significant gap," SP Das remarked during the operation. He also announced that the Traffic Management Committee will soon convene a meeting to address GB Bazar's traffic issues and develop long-term solutions.
The initiative comes as residents voice their discontent, citing a lack of accountability within the traffic department. By taking this direct action, SP Manik Lal Das aims to both alleviate the immediate congestion and demonstrate the department's commitment to restoring order to Agartala’s busy roads.
