In a heartbreaking incident on Tuesday night, Police Constable Aslam Mani Reang lost his life after being struck by a truck on the Assam-Agartala National Highway near the sales office under Churaibari police station. The incident, which occurred around 10 pm, has sent shockwaves through the local community and has cast a somber atmosphere of mourning within police circles.
Residents of the area were alerted by the loud crash and immediately contacted the fire brigade for assistance. Despite the swift response, the injuries sustained by Constable Reang proved fatal. The brave officer, who was currently stationed at Churaibari Police Station, was a resident of Gachiram Para under Anandabazar Police Station.
The accident took place near the sales office, and upon reaching the scene, locals found Constable Riang seriously injured. The fire brigade rushed him to Silchar Medical College Hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.
The driver of the truck involved in the incident has been apprehended by the authorities and is now in custody.
