The BJP state president Rajib Bhattacharjee on Monday slammed both the opposition TIPRA Motha and the then Left front government and alleged that the indigenous tribes of the state of Tripura were deceived and denied government benefits earlier.
Addressing a Karyakarta Sanmelan at Takarjala in Sepahijala district on Monday, Bhattacharjee said, “CPI-M’s defeat in the by-elections to Dhanpur and Boxanagar assembly constituencies in Tripura recently “shows that indigenous communities have rejected those who misled them and secured a victory for the BJP.”
“Some negative forces were in an attempt to deceive the indigenous tribes of the state and throttle their voice. They in fact used the tribals in Tripura as their vote banks,” he alleged.
He said, “There have been slogans of Greater Tipraland or a separate state, but the BJP government is here to work for the social upliftment of the indigenous tribes of this state. Our government always prioritizes development, and organizing protests by causing disruption will never aid in development.”
