Tripura’s former Dy CM Jishnu Dev Varma takes oath as Governor of Telangana

The former Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura Jishnu Dev Varma on Wednesday took oath as the Governor of Telangana state.

The oath taking ceremony was held at Telangana Raj Bhavan. Telangana High Court Chief Justice Alok Aradhe administered oath to the Governor. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, Ministers, MLAs, MLCs, and senior officials were present on the occasion.

Earlier, Revanth Reddy accorded a warm reception to the Governor at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad. Chief Secretary A Santhi Kumari, Director-General of Police Jitender and other senior officials were also present.

The President of India on July 28 last appointed Jishnu Dev Varma as the Governor of Telangana, while C P Radhakrishnan, who held additional charge of Telangana along with that of Jharkhand, was appointed as Governor of Maharashtra.

Responding to his appointment, Dev Verma thanked the President and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
