In an attempt to give a facelift to Tripura's attractive Neermahal Palace, the government has decided to uproot and clear the water hyacinth covering the Rudrasagar Lake to ease the tourists.
The motor boats boarding the tourists plying through the Rudrasagar Lake to reach the Neermahal palace have been facing difficulties due to the water hyacinth covering the major parts of the lake.
The state tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Tuesday chaired a crucial meeting in the conference hall of Rudrasagar Udbastu Samambay Samiti and later took stock of the situation of the Rudrasagar Lake.
During his visit to the Rudrasagar Lake on Tuesday, the minister Sushanta Chiwdhury said that measures will be taken to remove the garbage floating on Rudrasagar as soon as possible. He said, “We have observing that water hyacinths during the monsoon season obstructed the beauty of Neermahal, and this has intensified this year.”
“We have decided to promptly clean the water hyacinths, and funds will be provided from the Tourism Department to the Melaghar Municipal Council through cooperative means. We are committed to the development of tourism. The Rudrasagar Lake will soon be cleaned," said the minister.
