The state transport and tourism minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday said that at least 1,30,695 additional houses are allotted for the state of Tripura under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna – Gramin (PMAY-G).
He said, “The Ministry of Rural Development of Government of India has allocated the additional 130,695 housing units for the state.”
Addressing a press conference here at the civil secretariat on Wednesday, the minister said, “Tripura has already been allotted with 2,01,000 under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Rural Scheme. Most of the housing construction work has been completed. The construction of the remaining residences will also be completed very soon.”
He said that the state got the allocation of 87,000 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban project. Out of this, 53,000 houses have been constructed, he told reporters.
The minister however expressed hope that the socio-economic status of the state will improve due to the allocation of additional housing for the state.
