Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday slammed the previous Left front government for suppressing the role of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur’s role in building Tripura – a modern state.
Tripura on Saturday celebrated the 116th birth anniversary of Maharaja Bir Bikram Kishore Manikya Bahadur. CM Dr. Saha paid floral tribute to the statue of Maharaja Bir Bikram here at Agartala Zero Point. AMC Mayor Dipak Majumder, tribal welfare minister Bikash Debbarma, AMC Commissioner Dr. Sailesh Kumar Yadav and others were present at the function.
“Maharaja Bir Bikram was an architect of modern Tripura and the previous Left front government had always suppressed the Maharaja’s contribution in the development of Tripura,” Dr. Saha told reporters.
He said that since the formation of the BJP led coalition government in Tripura, the government had worked in honour of the Tripura king. He said, “There is a need to highlight the contribution of Maharaja Bir Bikram to the general public and the youths,” Dr. Saha said.
