Tripura Govt allocates land to CCHRC for establishing cancer hospital in North Tripura

To further strengthen cancer treatment in the state of Tripura, the Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (CCHRC) is eyeing to establish a cancer hospital in North Tripura district, said Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Sunday.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion of observance of World Cancer Day here at Agartala on Sunday, the Chief Minister, who also holds the health portfolio said that the government has allocated 15 acres of land to the non-profitable organization CCHRC to establish a cancer hospital in North Tripura district.

Once the hospital is established, it will benefit the people of two districts including the Unakoti district of the state, Dr Saha said, adding that the North and Unakoti districts are high cancer prevalence districts of the state.

He claimed that the Atal Bihari Regional Cancer Hospital (ABRCH) in Agartala has emerged as one of the best cancer treatment centre in the northeastern region. Asserting that cancer patients need a healing touch, Saha said awareness and timely medical intervention play a key role in fighting against the deadly disease.
