Tripura Govt contemplating to enhance power generation capacity through renewable energy

The state power minister Ratan Lal Nath on Tuesday said that the state power department has taken comprehensive plans for the current and next financial years to increase the power generation capacity through renewable energy.

Replying to the written question of the MLA Mailafru Mog on the third day of the ongoing winter assembly session, the minister informed that a 19.12 MW solar power project has been set up in the state, which is presently generating 57,369 units of electricity per day.

The Power Minister said that the Tripura State Power Corporation has also signed an agreement to purchase 100 MW of electricity through the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), which will be operational from July. The corporation is mulling a battery storage system to sustain this 100 MW power in the coming days, he added.
