The state industry and commerce minister Santana Chakma on Thursday informed the assembly that the government is putting utmost effort in setting up industrial zones in all the eight districts of the state to boost the industrial sector of the state.
The minister said that presently there is a proposal to set up industrial zone in the Khowai district of the state and in addition to this there is also a plan to establish an industrial zone in the South Tripura district. She further informed that 127.9 acres of land was handed over with the Department of Industries in Shantirbazar subdivision for setting up a new industrial zone.
In a written reply to a query of the Leader of Opposition Jitendra Choudhury in the second day of the assembly session on Thursday, the minister said that 24 new small scale industrial sheds and 28 market stalls have been constructed for women and self-help groups at A D Nagar industrial estate. Also, 12 low cost sheds have been constructed in Bodhjungnagar and 28 in R K Nagar industrial area to help small scale industrialists in setting up their industries, she added.
The Minister of Industry and Commerce said that grants are being provided from the bank in various central projects with the aim of making the educated unemployed youth of the state self-reliant. At the same time, through the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Limited of the Department of Industry and Commerce, the required lands are being provided in various industrial zones of the state for those who wish to set up industries, she said.
