Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday visited the State Load Dispatch Centre here at Agartala 79 Tilla and said that the government has a plan to extend underground power cable here in the capital town of Agartala as part of its pilot project.
During the visit, the Chief Minister Dr Saha was briefed in detail about the overall power supply and supply management in the state. Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath accompanied the Chief Minister in the visit.
The State Load Dispatch Center is constantly monitoring the power generation, transmission and distribution companies of the state to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the power consumers, Dr Saha said, adding that the Central Government has awarded ISO certificate to State Load Dispatch Centers in the State for meeting cyber security norms, which is significant for the state.
He said that Tripura is the only state in the North Eastern region where electricity is supplied to the neighboring country Bangladesh. The government continues to make efforts to ensure uninterrupted power supply to the electricity consumers of the state, he added.
The Chief Minister said that the government has also taken initiatives to change the old power transmission lines in the state. He further added that the use of solar energy as an alternative source of electricity is also being encouraged.
