Tripura Govt plans to open drug de-addiction treatment facility centre in all districts: Minister Tinku Roy

The state social welfare and social education minister Tinku Roy on Tuesday said that the government has a plan to open drug de-addiction treatment facility centre in all the eight districts of the state. The Centres will be opened under the scheme of Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, he added.

In reply to the query of the MLA Minarani Sarkar and MLA Jadab Lal Nath, the minister informed the ongoing winter assembly session that according to the proposal of the Health Department, the Union government has approved a Drug Addiction Treatment Facility Center at the Modern Psychiatric Hospital in Narsingarh.

He said that the Health Department has taken the initiative to set up a 200-bedded 'Integrated Rehabilitation Center for drug addicts in Sepahijala district. A drug de-addiction center has been set up in Tripura Tribal Autonomous District Council which will be operational soon, he said, adding that a proposal to open 2 drug de-addiction centers in South Tripura and Gomti districts has been sent to the union government for approval.
