Tripura Govt plans to open Goshalas in 8 districts to house rescued cows: Minister Sudhangshu Das

AGARTALA:

The state animal resource development department minister Sudhangshu Das on Thursday inaugurated a day long sensitization cum seminar of animal welfare acts, rules and laws here at Agartala Pragna Bhavan and said that the government has a plan to open Goshalas in all the 8 districts of the state to house the rescued cows.

“Proposals have already been sent to the central government for setting up dairies in all districts of the state. 8 Goshalas will be set up in 8 districts of the state to keep rescued cattle in a safe place during the trafficking season, he said.

Addressing the seminar, the minister said that various schemes are being implemented to make the state self-sufficient in milk, meat and egg production.

“We need to be more sincere in protecting animals and being sensitive to them. He said that the department provides free vaccines to cattle throughout the year,” Das said, adding that the Central government formed the Animal Welfare Board in 1964 to deal with injustice, cruelty and control of animals.

Meanwhile, the Mayor and MLA Deepak Majumdar praised the initiative of the department and said that animals should be protected to protect the balance of the environment. He said, it is not possible to do everything by law for the welfare of animals. He said, “That is why we need love, care and sensitivity towards animals.”
