Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday inaugurated the state-level observance of the 6th anniversary of Ayushman Bharat (PMJAY) and 3rd anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission here in an event at Agartala Pragna Bhavan and said that the present government in Tripura has given priority to the development of health care services and health infrastructure in the state.
Addressing the event, the Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the nationwide Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana for the welfare of economically weaker sections. This scheme has completed 6 successful years, while at least 1535364 beneficiaries of the state are brought under the coverage of the scheme. He added.
The Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana-2023 scheme was launched in the state on February 15 with an aim to ensure health insurance coverage to the rest of the public in the state, he said, adding that Ayushman cards have been issued to a total of 448709 beneficiaries under this scheme. He said that more than 12 thousand patients received free medical services from various hospitals. Claims of more than Rs 2.20 crore have been settled under this scheme, he added.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Ayushman Bharat Health Account Number or ABHA Number is one of the topics of Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. This 14-digit ABHA number will help every citizen of the country to digitally store their health information and use that information as when required, he said.
Dr Saha also mentioned the issue of bringing all senior citizens aged 70 years and above under the health insurance scheme of Ayushman Bharat PMJAY as approved by the Union Cabinet recently. The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken various initiatives for the security and economic development of the country and also gave special importance to the development of the North Eastern region through Act East policy.
