The Secretary of the state power department Abhishek Singh on Wednesday inaugurated a daylong summit on GeM excellence here at Agartala Town hall and said that the portal has been helping the government in maintaining transparency and efficiency in purchasing goods and materials through GeM portal.
He said that as of now various departments of the government had purchased goods worth Rs 679 crore through the GeM portal. Detaining the data, he further informed that in the financial year 2023-24, this amount was about Rs 275 crore. 904 MSEs (Micro and Small Enterprises) of the state are registered on GEM Portal. Moreover, 804 buyers and 18,017 sellers are registered on GeM Portal. Out of them, 4,155 vendors have registered their names on this portal in FY 2023-24, he added.
Speaking at the summit, the State GeM director Amardeep Gupta said that in the last financial year, government offices across the country have purchased materials worth Rs 4 lakh crore through GeM and Tripura ranks second next to Assam in the Northeast in procurement of government goods through GeM portal.
He said that this type of summit has already been organized at the district level as well. In the second phase of the summit, various technical issues related to GeM Portal were discussed. Officials of various departments were present in the summit.
