Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Monday inaugurated the 64th foundation day of the Agartala GBP Hospital and emphasized the vital role that AGMC and GBP Hospital play in advancing medical education and healthcare services in Tripura.
The programme was held here at the KLS Auditorium in Agartala, bringing together medical professionals and community members to honor the institution’s legacy.
Addressing the gathering of doctors and nurses in the programme on Monday, the Chief Minister, who also holds the health portfolio, said that the present government is committed to render quality health care services. The government is working tirelessly to enhance the health sector and as part of this the Shija Hospital and Research Institute (SHRI), an Imphal-based health care entity will invest Rs 700 crore in Tripura for developing health care institute.
The SHRI will set up a super specialty hospital at Khayerpur in West Tripura district and following this the government has arranged identified a land for this, Dr Saha said, adding that health services are one of the priority areas of the present government.
On the occasion, an important Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the State Government and the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) for the construction of a three-storied building on the hospital premises, with an investment of ₹34.46 crore.
During his speech, CM Saha expressed gratitude towards the dedicated medical staff, acknowledging their unwavering commitment to serving the community. Their hard work and dedication have been crucial in making AGMC and GBP Hospital trusted names in healthcare within the state, he added.
