Tripura government has sent a proposal to the Centre for establishing Kendriya Vidyalaya School at Udaipur in Gomati district of the state, said Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday.
In response to the query raised by the Matabari MLA Abhishek Deb Roy in the 4th day of the assembly session on Thursday, the Chief Minister, who also holds the education portfolio said that at present there are nine Kendra Vidyalaya functioning in the state and in addition to this the government is now contemplating to get the tenth such school at Banduar in Udaipur sub-division.
Dr. Saha further added that the main objective of setting up of Kendriya Vidyalayas approved by the Central Board of Secondary Education, which follow a uniform curriculum across the country is to ensure quality education for the children and that their education is not hampered when the government employees working under the Central Government are transferred from one place to another.
According to the demand of the Kendriya Vidyalaya organization at the centre, the state government has handed over 10 acres of land at Banduar in Udaipur with the central organization, where temporary provision of classrooms, toilets, electricity connection, drinking water and accommodation for students and teachers has been made by spending Rs. 25 lakhs, Dr. Saha said, adding that after submission of reports in this regard the proposal was approved in principle by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Organisation and despite that, the school could not be functioned as the final approval for starting the school is not received yet.
