Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Saturday attended the second day of the Destination Tripura Business Conclave, organised by the state Industry and Commerce department and said that Tripura has huge potential for industrial growth based on the available natural resources in the state.
Available resources of rubber, bamboo, natural gas, tea can boost the industrial sector of the state, Dr Saha said, adding that the state government has already adopted multiple policies to encourage domestic and foreign investors to set up industries in the state.
The chief minister also said on the occasion that the purpose of this conclave is to create an industry-supportive environment in the state through mutual cooperation and participation of industrialists and investors. The Chief Minister hoped that with the help of the state's natural resources and industry-friendly policies of the state government, investors would come forward to set up industries in the state.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi always called the North East region as Asthalakshmi. The Prime Minister has given special importance to the development of North Eastern states through the Act East Policy, Dr Saha said, adding that one of the natural resources of the state is rubber. Tripura ranks second in the country in rubber production, he added.
The state government is working to establish rubber based industries in the state by taking various initiatives including building rubber parks. As a result, investors are being encouraged to set up rubber-based industries in the state. The Chief Minister said that bamboo is another important natural resource of the state. The state government has also provided various facilities to the investors in setting up bamboo based industries, he said.
The Chief Minister said that the tourism industry is also playing an important role in the economic development of the state. Therefore, the state government has taken various initiatives to develop eco-tourism and religious tourism in the state. Apart from this, investors are also being encouraged to set up hotels for the expansion of the tourism industry, he added.
