Along with the rest of the nations, the Northeastern states of Tripura is going for Lok Sabha elections from April 19 next, as the Election Commission of India on Saturday announced the poll schedule for the nation.
According to the announcement, 2-phase election will be held in the states of Tripura and the first phase of poll will be conducted on April 19 for the West Tripura constituency, whereas the second phase of polling will be held on April 26 next for the East (ST) seat.
The notification of the elections for the West LS seat will be issued on March 20 next and notification for the East (ST) reserved seat will be issued on March 28.
The Additional Chief Electoral officer of the state election commission Usa Jen Mog in a press release on Saturday stated that for the polls in West seat, last date of the submission of nomination papers is on March 27 and the last date of the withdrawal of nomination papers is on March 30. Nomination papers will be scrutinized on March 28, it stated.
For the polls in East seat, the last date for submission of nomination papers is April 4 and the last date for withdrawal of nomination papers will be on April 8. It further stated that the counting of votes will be on June 4 and the entire election process will be concluded by June 6 this year.
Meanwhile, according to the ECI the by-polls for 7-Ramnagar assembly constituency will be held on April 19 on the day of the polling for West Tripura Lok Sabha seat.
The West District Election Officer (DEO), also the DM of the West Tripura district Dr Vishal Kumar in a press conference here in the conference hall of the DM office on Saturday said that the notification for both the elections including the by-polls will be issued on March 20 next. He said that a total of 45669 voters will cast their votes for the 7-Ramnagar by-polls on April 19. Out of the total voters 23629 are female voters and 22040 are male voters.
He also informed that this year a total of 1461836 voters including 733645 male voters, 728315 female voters, 53 third gender voters will cast their votes for the scheduled Lok Sabha election to be held in 2 phases. There are 5920 service voters and among them 5808 male voters and 112 female voters will also cast their votes, he said, adding that 7818 Divyangan voters will cast their votes this year.
