Tripura Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that the present state government is committed to delivering good governance to all sections of society, with the state making significant strides towards rapid development.
Dr. Saha said while addressing the ‘Good Governance through Effective Implementation’ conference in Gurugram, Haryana, organized by SGT University and Rambhau Mhalgi Prabodhini.
The event was attended by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is placing special emphasis on the holistic development of the North Eastern region, which he has referred to as Ashtalakshi. In Tripura, our government is dedicated to ensuring good governance across the state. To this end, we have established a separate Good Governance Department,” he said.
Expressing his satisfaction at participating in the program, Dr. Saha said, “I feel very happy to be part of this program organized by SGT University. Recently, the North Eastern Council session was held in Tripura for the first time. Following that, I had the opportunity to attend this conference. Representing the North Eastern region, I must highlight that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has always prioritized the development of this area, launching the Act East Policy to foster progress.”
Dr. Saha emphasized that the development of the North East is crucial for the overall development of India.
“Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee had prioritized the North Eastern region's development, and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi has further advanced this vision by focusing on Ashtalakshmi. He introduced the HIRA model for our region's progress,” he remarked.
According to Dr. Saha, Tripura is advancing under the leadership of PM Modi, benefiting from developments such as six national highways, a third-strongest internet gateway, and enhanced rail services.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognized the importance of the North East and worked tirelessly to address the challenges of terrorism in this region. Today, the North East, including Tripura, is on a development trajectory and is free from militancy,” Dr. Saha said.
He added that while the Maitree Bridge has been completed, its operation is delayed due to evolving circumstances in Bangladesh.
“Tripura and the other states of the North Eastern region have immense tourism potential. A peaceful environment has been established in Tripura, and we are working to deliver good governance to all sections of society. The Good Governance Department, set up in Tripura, ensures that various departments function efficiently,” he added.
The conference was attended by Chhattisgarh Finance Minister Om Prakash Chowdhury, Managing Trustee of SGT University Manmohan Singh Chawla, Vice Chancellor of SGT University Dr. Madan Mohan Chaturvedi, and other eminent dignitaries.
