Tripura mourns demise of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh

AGARTALA:

Along with the rest of the nation, Tripura is mourning the demise of former Prime Minister and economist Manmohan Singh. The mourning will last till January 1 next as part of the national mourning.

As per the guideline of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the national flag will be flown at half-mast in the state and no official entertainment programmes shall be held till January 1 next.

Singh died at AIIMS hospital in Delhi at the age of 92. He was taken to the hospital for emergency treatment on Thursday after sudden loss of consciousness at home.

Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha expressed his deep grief over the demise of Manmohan Singh. In the condolence message and said, “His contributions in nation building and shaping the economic landscape of the country will always be remembered.”

In the condolence message, the Chief Minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of late Manmohan Singh and expressed his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members.
