The state youth affairs and sports department on Tuesday organised a colorful Padayatra here at Agartala to mark the 75 years of Constitution of India.
The state finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy and sports and youths affairs minister Tinku Roy accompanied by other officials had flagged off the Padayatra from Agartala Umakanta Academy on Tuesday.
Students and teachers of different schools, colleges, NCC cadets, volunteers of Nehru Yuva Kendra and Scouts and Guides of the state and students of 26 states in best of their state traditions, and holding the national flag, posters and banners had participated in the Padayatra.
Taking part in the padayatra, the finance minister Pranajit Singha Roy said the main aim of celebrating this day is to pay tribute to those who composed the Constitution and those who laid their lives for the freedom of the country and to make people aware of the justice and economic equality enshrined in the Constitution. He said that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made an endeavor to build Vikshit Bharat by 2047.
Meanwhile, the state sports and youth affairs minister Tinku Roy said that the Constitution has ensured the right to speech, food, education, shelter etc. At the same time, it has entrusted all with certain responsibilities also, he added.
He said, “We have to inculcate the sense of these rights and responsibilities among the new generation. Youths of the country have to come forward to fulfil the dream of the Prime Minister for building a strong nation.”
The padayatra moved across the capital town of Agartala and ended at Ujjayanta Palace premise, where the ministers, officials and others laid wreaths to the statue of Dr B R Ambedkar.
