Tripura along with the rest of the nation and neighboring Bangladesh observed Nazrul Jayanti to commemorate the birth anniversary of rebel and national poet of Bangladesh Kazi Nazrul Islam on Saturday.
Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has unveiled the statue of rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam here at Agartala Renters Colony and said that the thoughts of the rebel poet Kazi Nazrul Islam hold profound significance.
Addressing the programme organized by the Bharat-Bangla Maitri Sangsad here at Jogendarnagar, Chief Minister Dr Saha highlighted the significant contribution of Kazi Nazrul Islam in resistance against the colonial government.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to introduce the younger generation to Nazrul’s life and literary works, stating, “It is through understanding his struggles and his literature that we can truly honor his memory.”
Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Agartala Municipal Corporation’s Mayor Dipak Majumdar, and Advocate General Siddhartha Shankar Dey among others were present in the function.
Series of programmes were held to commemorate the birth anniversary of the rebel poet hetre at Agartala. The state Information and Cultural Affairs department had organized an event here at Agartala.
Secretary of the Department of Information and Culture Affairs Dr P K Chakraborty, Joint Director Anupam Chakraborty and others were present in the programme.
