Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday paid floral tribute to the portrait of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on Parakram Diwas here at Agartala Netaji Subhas Vidyaniketan (NSV).
Addressing the programme, the Chief Minister said that commemorating Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's contribution to the country's freedom movement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose's birthday on January 23 in 2021 as 'Parakram Diwas’ and since then, 23rd January is celebrated as 'Parakram Diwas' across the country.
He said that due respect has been shown to the freedom fighters and brave soldiers of the country only after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister of this country.
Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder, social activists Rajib Bhattacharjee, Corporator Ratna Dutta and Director of Information and Culture Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya among others were present in the programme.
A colourful rally involving the students and faculties and alumni of the NSV was organised on the occasion, which moved across the capital town on Tuesday.
On the other hand, the Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu on Tuesday paid a floral tribute to the statue of Subhas Chandra Bose here at Agartala Maharajganj Bazar. The Governor said that Netaji had made a remarkable contribution to the Indian freedom movement. He however urged the youths of the state to follow the ideology of Netaji, who constituted Azad Hind Fauz to lead the country's fight against British rule.
