A woman was apprehended by Tripura Police in Agartala City's Guala Basti, near the Khejur Bagan area, for her alleged involvement in drug trafficking. Identified as Kala Devi, she had reportedly been operating covertly in the trade for an extended period. Despite previous arrests, she had managed to secure bail.
Addressing the media, Dr. Kiran Kumar, the Superintendent of Police for the West District, revealed that the arrest came following confidential information regarding drug peddling from a shop in Guala Basti. Upon raiding her residence, law enforcement confiscated approximately 33 grams of heroin, along with 100 small vials and 18,000 empty ones.
During interrogation, Kala Devi disclosed additional names allegedly involved in the illicit trade, prompting authorities to pursue further investigations and arrests. The seized narcotics were estimated to hold a street value of around Rs 4 lakh.
