In a swift operation near the Bangladesh border, Tripura Police, aided by local intelligence, thwarted an attempt to smuggle two bikes across the border. The operation, led by Madhupur police station under the Bishalgarh sub-division, resulted in the recovery of the vehicles identified by registration numbers TR01W6460 and TR01L8270.
According to reports, Madhupur police received actionable intelligence regarding the planned smuggling operation through the Kaiyerdhepa area of Kamlasagar Assembly. Acting swiftly on this information, the police alerted local residents, who cooperated with law enforcement officials and mobilized to intercept the smugglers.
Late last night, as the smugglers attempted to transport the bikes through the designated area, they were met with a vigilant crowd that effectively detained them. However, the smugglers managed to evade capture, abandoning the bikes in their haste to escape.
Upon receiving the alert, police forces rushed to the scene and secured the two bikes. Initial investigations suggest that the vehicles were likely stolen with the intention of smuggling them across the border into Bangladesh. Police authorities have launched a thorough investigation into the incident to apprehend those responsible and unravel the full extent of the smuggling network involved.
