Agartala witnessed a crackdown against use of DJ Sound Boxes’ late Friday night, as the Tripura Police from New Capital Complex Police station conducted a drive to enforce the court-mandated sound restrictions.
A total of 12 sound boxes were seized, and cases were registered against three individuals for violating the permissible noise levels.
As per Police, The operation targeted multiple locations, including the hostel of AGMC College, a residence in the Chanmari area belonging to Paritosh Das, and the Barjala area.
The offenders had been playing loud music beyond the stipulated 10 PM deadline, causing significant inconvenience to residents, according to a police official from the NCC station.
Despite clear court directives prohibiting the use of loudspeakers after 10 PM, instances of ‘DJ Sound Box’ have become a recurring nuisance in several parts of Agartala.
These high-decibel gatherings not only disturb the peace but also showcase a blatant disregard for the law.
Residents of the city have frequently complained about the issue, citing sleepless nights and disruption of daily life. While sporadic police drives have been conducted to address the problem, the persistent nature of such incidents suggests a need for stricter enforcement and awareness among the public.
The NCC police station assured that legal action will follow against the offenders. "A case has been registered against them for violating the court order and disturbing public peace," said the police officer.
