The Director General of Police in Tripura, Amitabh Ranjan, on Monday asserted that the Tripura Police is working without any interference or doubts to maintain the law and order situation in the state.
He added that this year, the state has recorded the lowest crime rate across all categories compared to the past 10 years.
DGP Ranjan said this while observing Police Commemoration Day at the Manoranjan Debbarma Smriti Stadium in A.D. Nagar Police Line, Agartala.
"I want to state firmly that there are misconceptions being spread about law and order. However, the truth is, if we look at the past 10 years, this year we have recorded the lowest crime rate, whether it pertains to offenses against the body, property, women, or other areas. The police have been working diligently, and as a result, the crime rate has decreased. All elections have been held peacefully," DGP Ranjan said.
He also noted that Durga Puja and other celebrations have occurred without incident.
"Wherever we face law and order challenges, senior officers, along with forces, are dispatched to the spot to control the situation. Even in areas where recent incidents have occurred, Durga Puja was celebrated peacefully, with all communities coming together. We are maintaining law and order, and security has been tightened. We will continue to take control to ensure peace for the people," he told reporters.
The DGP emphasized that they have clear and strong directives to work without interference.
"We are working without any interference and taking strong actions without hesitation to maintain law and order," he reiterated.
Regarding the Police Commemoration Day, the DGP highlighted the sacrifices made by police personnel for the country and its people.
"Since Independence, over 35,000 police personnel have been martyred to protect the country. The police are working with dedication and determination to safeguard the nation and maintain peace and unity," he added.
